43% of Americans hold positive view of socialism: Poll

Positive opinions of socialism are at an all-time high in the U.S., according to a recent survey.

Overall, 43% of Americans had a positive view of socialism in the latest Gallup poll, marking the first time that the ideology cleared 40% in that survey.

Capitalism remained ahead, with 55% of Americans saying they held a positive view of the economic system. A further 77% supported free enterprise and 95% backed small businesses.

Only big business was less popular than socialism, with only 35% expressing a positive view.

The sentiment change comes as openly socialist candidates increasingly win elections across the country. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani notably defeated former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y., for the top job in the Big Apple last year.
