Kennedy Center orders Trump's name removed from venue, official materials following court ruling

The Kennedy Center has told staff  to begin removing President Donald Trump's name from official materials. 

The order was included in a three-page memo Thursday from the center's general counsel and follows a recent federal ruling that stated the center's board added Trump's name without the required congressional approval, according to The Washington Post. 

Employees were told to immediately change email signatures, letterhead and other documents to erase any reference to Trump, and they have until June 12 to remove it from brochures, signs, ID cards and the center's website. 

Last week, U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper ruled that the Kennedy Center's board exceeded its authority when it voted to add Trump's name to the center. 

“We are complying with the court’s order while evaluating all legal options to preserve this revitalization and recognize President Trump’s leadership,” Kennedy Center spokesperson Roma Daravi said in a statement.
