President Trump told reporters Friday that the two former FBI officials who were recently charged with making false statements to Congress about their roles in investigating Hunter Biden's laptop, "were bad people" and "dirty cops."

Former FBI intelligence officials Nikki Floris and Bradley Benavides, who each specialized in foreign election interference, allegedly made "materially false statements" as part of the House Judiciary Committee's 2023 probe about their involvement in a specialized FBI foreign-influence task force that was investigating Biden and their knowledge of his laptop.

FBI Director Kash Patel said Floris led the FBI's since-dissolved Foreign Influence Task Force as deputy assistant director from mid-2019 through mid-2022 and that Benavides was the section chief from mid-2019 through the 2020 election.

"I don't know exactly what it is," Trump told reporters in Florida. "I heard they were arrested or charged and I heard they were bad people. You know, they're crooked people. They're dirty cops. Like [former FBI Director James] Comey. Comey's a dirty cop too."

U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro said Floris and Benavides surrendered Friday morning.
