Education freedom tax credit allows Americans to deduct up to $1,700 for donating to scholarships

The proposed credit, created under Section 25F of the Internal Revenue Code as part of the 2025 tax law, is permanent and nonrefundable, and allows individuals to claim up to $1,700 a year and $3,400 for married couples filing jointly.
