Trump to discuss AI 'super intelligence' with Xi Jinping

President Donald Trump on Thursday confirmed he would discuss AI with Chinese President Xi Jinping during their planned meeting, while also reaffirming his opposition to a slowdown.

"A big day with President Xi of China. Super Intelligence (SI) will be a big topic of discussion, but I want to leave it exactly where it is. That is China’s position also. Our guardrail is the DOJ!" Trump posted on Truth Social.

In recent weeks, Trump has emerged as a stalwart proponent of continued AI expansion, backing both the continued construction of data centers and the development of new AI technology. He has also vocally criticized calls for slowing down the development of AI.

The president has also floated the renaming of AI to "super intelligence" instead of "artificial intelligence."

Xi is set to visit the White House on Thursday morning.
