Trump sends Saudi nuclear deal to Congress for approval

The Trump administration has sent a planned nuclear enrichment agreement with Saudi Arabia to Congress for approval, The Hill reported.

Trump announced the agreement in late July, but subsequently imposed a requirement that the country join the Abraham Accords and recognize Israel for it to take effect. Riyadh has not committed to that stipulation.

The agreement would permit American companies to develop Saudi nuclear infrastructure for civilian purposes. Such provisions come as the Iran war continues, with Washington seeking a concession from Tehran to never possess a nuclear weapon.

Saudi Arabia has exchanged some fire with Iran throughout the conflict, but has not fully joined the war.
