Trump slams 'Mohammed' El-Sayed as 'terrorist sympathizer'
El-Sayed is locked in a close contest with former Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., for the Wolverine State's open Senate seat.
President Donald Trump this week attacked Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, linking him to contentious streamer Hasan Piker and calling him a "terrorist sympathizer."
El-Sayed is locked in a close contest with former Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., for the Wolverine State's open Senate seat. The contest is expected to be one of the most competitive of the cycle. Throughout the contest, El-Sayed has taken flak for his ties to Hasan Piker, a prominent Twitch streamer who has said America "deserved" 9/11, among other sensational statements.
"Mohammed El-Sayed is a terrible Candidate for the Dumocrats. While his opponent, Mike Rogers, is an extremely good one, Mohammed goes back to the days of the Jihad," Trump posted on Truth Social. "He is a RADICAL Extremist, Terrorist Sympathizer, and no different from his best friend, America Hating Hasan Piker."
El-Sayed's full name is Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed.
"How’s France doing? Mohammed’s Values are not exactly those of Michiganders, or those of our Great United States of America!" Trump went on, appearing to reference ongoing riots in France. "He is WRONG for Michigan, and WRONG for America. VOTE FOR MIKE ROGERS — HE HAS MY COMPLETE AND TOTAL ENDORSEMENT, AND WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!"
