Trump warns voters of 'open borders' if Dems win midterms

President Donald Trump on Wednesday urged voters to turn out for Republican candidates, even those they weren't thrilled with, warning that a Democratic win would lead to open borders and the undoing of his administration's efforts.

"Even if you don't like somebody so much, it doesn't matter. It's a vote for good things," he told reporters. "Like in Michigan, you're gonna vote for a guy who's a communist? It's ridiculous."

Trump appeared to refer to Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed, who is seeking the state's open Senate seat. He is in a close contest with former Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich.

The Michigan contest is expected to be one of the few opportunities for Republicans to pick up a seat in November. Sen. Gary Peters, D-Mich., is not seeking reelection.
