Finland official says support for UN agency will end following allegations employees tied to Oct. 7

Ville Tavio, Finland's minister for foreign trade and development, announced that the country's support agreement with United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) will end. 

"The multi-year support agreement made between Finland and UNRWA during the previous Sdp government ends, and I have not granted it an extension," Tavio said in a post on X.

He explained that the level of funding does not decrease, but it will be provided through other channels, such as the World Food Program. 

The announcement follows Just the News reporting on Wednesday about an announcement from the United States' Agency for International Development's Inspector General's office, stating that it has referred more than 100 current or former employees of UNRWA to the State Department over their participation in the October 7 terror attacks in Israel.

The referrals include three people they suggested be debarred by the department, including a former UNRWA school teacher and Hamas operative who allegedly received and held civilian hostages beginning on October 7, 2023.
