Mitch McConnell could return to the Senate as early as Monday after 3 months of absence

Kentucky GOP Sen. Mitch McConnell could return to the Senate on Monday.

Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., says the expectation is that McConnell will return to work when the Senate reconvenes to vote on Monday evening. 

Comer said he has not communicated with McConnell, but has spoken with some of his staff. According to them, his return next week is the goal.

McConnell, 84, has been out of the Senate since June 14 after his hospitalization due to a fall. After some time, he was discharged to his home from a rehabilitation center to continue his recovery and to undergo further therapy.

McConnell's office has not formally confirmed that he will return on Monday.
