Rep. Ilhan Oman, D-Minn., said that she and her family will be moving out of their Washington, D.C., home after federal agents raided the residence last week as part of a federal investigation that focuses on her immigration to the U.S.

“Obviously, I can’t continue to live there," Omar told MS NOW. "Our address has been public. And with the death threats that I deal with, it’s no longer going to be feasible to be in that house and have my kids visiting off and on, having people track them."

The federal investigation is looking into allegations that Omar or her father lied about her birth year on immigration paperwork to obtain her citizenship when her family fled Somalia in the late 1990s.

Federal agents with Homeland Security Investigations raided her home on Oct. 12. Omar told MS Now that the raid lasted four to five hours and involved as many as 25 agents.

She said they conducted themselves in a mostly "decent way" during the search of her home in compliance with the warrant. She also said agents took 17 items, including roughly 10 notebooks and old phones.
