The incident involving a vehicle driving into a Berlin LGBTQ+ march on Saturday is suspected to be an act of terrorism, authorities said on Sunday. 

"Strong suspicion," police said, according to reports.

Police called off the event after the incident and told everyone to exit. 

The suspect had fled the scene. 

Authorities said the perpetrator, named as Abdul Ballout, was linked to local Islamic groups.

He was killed in a confrontation with police, according to reports on Sunday afternoon.

One person has died as a result of the attack and at least 29 were injured.

The Associated Press reported that hundreds of thousands of people were in attendance at the march.
