Homan denies ICE plans to monitor polling stations in midterms

"Border Czar" Tom Homan this weekend denied that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) planned to monitor polling locations during the midterm elections, contending that rumors to the contrary were just a political "fear tactic."

Homan's remarks come as the city of Denver sues to keep ICE agents away from polling locations, The Hill reported. But Homan rejected the premise of the challenge altogether.

“This is another fear tactic. This is another attack on ICE and this administration,” he said on Fox News. “I mean, they don’t want ICE near the polling places, they don’t want to vote for voter ID, they don’t want observers. What have they got to hide to begin with, right? But there is no plan for enforcement action at polling places. It’s just another attempt to smear ICE and smear the president.”

Under the Trump administration, ICE has been at the forefront of the mass deportation initiatives that Trump promised during the 2024 campaign. The agency has attracted considerable scrutiny over its operations, with opposition to their presence rising sharply after its high-profile operation in Minneapolis, Minn., earlier this year that saw the deaths of two anti-ICE demonstrators.
