President Trump said the midterm election results caused a "giant step back in history" after a stock market sell-off of about $3 trillion.

"America took a giant step back in History with the results of the last Election — Even the Stock Market, which has been a “ROCKETSHIP” under “TRUMP,” took a one day, 3 Trillion Dollar loss," Trump wrote on social media.

"But have no fear, we will be back, BIGGER AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE!" he added.

Democrats won't back control of the House and Senate in Tuesday's election.

Reports indicate that the Wall Street sell-off that followed was between $2.5 trillion and $3 trillion.
