Attorneys representing President Donald Trump are reportedly involved in discussions with the IRS to settle a $10 billion lawsuit he brought against the agency, alleging it improperly disclosed his tax information to media outlets between 2018 and 2020.

In a federal court filing on Friday, Trump requested that a judge put the case on hold for 90 days to give both sides time to pursue a possible settlement or other resolution.

“This limited pause will neither prejudice the parties nor delay ultimate resolution,” the filing read. “Instead, it will support judicial efficiency and give both sides an opportunity to explore ways to narrow or resolve the dispute more effectively.”

Some legal experts have questioned whether the head of the executive branch is able to reach a settlement with a government agency under their own authority.
