Xi heads to White House for morning tea time

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived at the White House on Friday morning for tea with President Donald Trump.

The visit marks the start of the final day of Xi's diplomatic trip, which will see the pair and their wives visit the National Archives. Video footage showed the quartet and their translators having tea in the presidential residence.

"We really enjoyed it," Trump said to reporters. "We made great strides ... very positive for both countries."

Trump and Xi have been relatively mum on the details of their discussions thus far, though Trump did mention that he had discussed his bid to rename artificial intelligence (AI) to "super intelligence."

Xi's visit made him the first Chinese leader to make two formal visits to the United States. It was also his first time meeting Trump at the White House.

Earlier in the year, Trump visited Beijing.
