Three killed, four wounded in shooting near Seattle’s Space Needle, police say

Three people were killed and four were wounded Sunday evening during a shooting at a food festival at the Seattle Center, a short distance from the city's iconic Space Needle, police said.

One of the wounded was a 2-year-old toddler, and police said they believed the incident began when two parties began shooting at each other.

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson announced one person was taken into custody, while Seattle Assistant Police Chief Tyrone Davis said at least one other suspect remained at large.

“There may be more,” Davis said, according to the Seattle Times. “We’re still trying to figure this out.”

Police and ambulances began responding around 6 p.m. PT while the Bite of Seattle festival was ongoing.

"Police are investigating a shooting. Multiple shooting victims. Shots fired at the Seattle Center," the Seattle Police Department reported on X.

Police urged citizens to "please avoid the area" and did not immediately provide conditions for any of the victims.
