Trump announces he will go to Tennessee instead of Alabama-Georgia game amid Hurricane Isaias
The president was initially scheduled to attend the game in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, which sees the Georgia Bulldogs play against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
President Donald Trump said Friday that he will hold a rally for Republican Sens. Bill Hagerty and Marsha Blackburn in Tennessee this weekend instead of attending the Alabama-Georgia game amid concerns regarding Hurricane Isaias.
The president was initially scheduled to attend the game in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where the Georgia Bulldogs play against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Trump said he was missing the game because of the oncoming storm and to avoid distracting law enforcement and other first responders, but that he hopes the game goes on, and he will visit the teams at a later date.
"Instead, I will go to Tennessee, where we have quickly called a Big Rally in order to get our fantastic Congressional Candidates, our Great Senator Bill Hagerty, and a woman who will go down as one of the most impactful governors in the State's History, Marsha Blackburn, elected," he said on Truth Social.
Blackburn is currently Tennessee's senior senator but is running for governor.
The change comes as Tuscaloosa is under a tropical storm warning, but is not currently projected to be in the eye of the storm.
It also comes as Hurricane Isaias is currently a Category 3 Hurricane and is expected to make landfall Friday night around Pensacola, Florida.
