Attorney General Todd Blanche on Friday responded to a post on X by Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., accusing the Trump administration of interfering with the election process.

"If you were really concerned about election integrity, you would help this administration clean voter rolls in your state and ensure the votes of millions of American citizens are protected," Blanche said in a post on X on Friday.

Durbin had stated Thursday on the platform that the Justice Department and FBI worked with the Department of Homeland Security to seize ballots, threaten election officials and "undermine the election administration powers of the state."

"State and local officials are working tirelessly to combat these efforts and ensure that every eligible American will be able to cast a ballot and have their vote counted in the midterms—and voters should have confidence that the rule of law and our democracy will prevail," Durbin wrote.

Durbin said he's joined his colleagues in pressing the FBI and DOJ to provide a "full accounting" of its efforts.
