Vance calls Michigan Senate Democratic nominee El-Sayed 'very, very evil'

Vice President JD Vance on Monday called Michigan Senate Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed "very, very evil." 

The statement, which reflects an escalation in Republican attacks on the El-Sayed ahead of the midterm election, was made at a rally for Republican candidate Mike Rogers, NOTUS reported. 

Vance spent much of his speech at the rally talking about El-Sayed, portraying him as a dangerous figure who will inflame racial and religious divisions. 

“There’s something about Abdul El-Sayed that is very, very evil and on the rise in the United States of America today,” Vance said.

Vance pointed to El-Sayed's past remarks that have been criticized as antisemtic, as well as his association with far-left Twitch streamer Hasan PIker, who has faced backlash over past comments about Israel, Jewish people and the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The vice president described El-Sayed as someone who sees "themselves as fighting for one group at the expense of another," and said such people have the potential to "destroy the United States of America."
