A man who died from multiple injuries after recently being struck by a Frontier Airlines jet on the runway at Denver International Airport on Friday had sought to end his life, a medical examiner announced Tuesday.

The official also said police are talking to friends and family of Michael Mott, 41, to determine what had been going on in his life before his death Friday.

Mott was scientifically identified, according to ABC News. He was not an airport employee, and no vehicle or bicycle was found near where the collision took place, which is on a runway about two miles from the terminal in a remote area. Police have not found a note or anything by Mott, the examiner said.

Airport officials told ABC News they've had fence jumpers before, but they're typically stopped quickly. The airport received an intrusion alarm alert prior to the incident, but when they searched the area, staff found a pack of deer, which are common around the airport. They did not see Mott.
