Britney Spears father has been removed from her conservatorship

A Los Angeles County judge granted Britney Spears’ request to have her father, Jamie Spears, suspended from her conservatorship.

This is a major win for the pop star, as well as those who support her cause. 

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny, issued the order Wednesday, which removed Jamie Spears as his daughter’s guardian, effective immediately.

However, according to Reuters,  the music icon is not out of the woods just yet. Although her father no longer has control of her finances, Spears is still under a partial conservatorship, with her taxes and financial decisions being made by a lawyer for the Los Angeles court system. 

Prior to the judge’s order, Jamie Spears had control over his daughter’s assets since 2008. 

Another hearing will be held towards the end of the year concerning a permanent ending to the conservatorship that has controlled Britney Spears’ life for nearly two decades.
