Female driver shot at CIA headquarters after failing to stop vehicle

Fairfax County officers responded to the scene at about 4 a.m. to assist CIA police with traffic control.

A female driver was shot by authorities at CIA headquarters in Langley, Va., early Thursday morning, and her injury was non-fatal, according to police.

The woman was shot after she failed to stop her vehicle as she approached the gate at the headquarters, USA Today reported.

Fairfax County officers responded to the scene at about 4 a.m. to assist CIA police with traffic control, the county police said, NBC Washington reported.

“There was a security incident that law enforcement responded to outside CIA Headquarters," the agency said in a statement. "The main gate is currently closed until further notice. Additional details will be made available as appropriate.” 

A CIA investigation is underway.
