Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said Wednesday that the DNA that was found on a glove near the home of missing person Nancy Guthrie belonged to a restaurant worker who was not connected to Guthrie's disappearance.

The update comes as authorities continue searching for the 84-year-old Guthrie, who was reported missing around noon Feb. 1 after she did not show up for virtual church services. She was last seen the previous night after having dinner at her daughter Annie Guthrie's home in Tucson, Arizona.

"There was some talk and discussion that it was police officers out in the field just discarding them, that is so far from the truth," Nanos told Fox News. "We believed wholeheartedly that those gloves belonged to a restaurant and guess what? The owner of the glove, we found working at a restaurant across the street. It has nothing to do with the case."

Investigators believe that Guthrie was abducted at her home by a masked man who was spotted on security footage. He has been described as "approximately 5’9 - 5’10 tall, with an average build."

"In the video, he is wearing a black, 25-liter ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack," the FBI said last month. "We hope this updated description will help concentrate the public tips we are receiving."

Guthrie's family, which includes "TODAY" show host Savannah Guthrie, said they are still holding onto hope that their loved one will be found and Savannah Guthrie is offering a $1 million reward for the return of her mother.

"We feel the love and prayers from our neighbors, from the Tucson community and from around the country," Savannah Guthrie wrote on Instagram this week. "please don't stop praying and hoping with us.bring her home."

Anyone who has tips or information about the case is encouraged to call 911, the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI, or the Pima County Sheriff's Department at 520-351-4900.
