SF 49ers owner arrested in Ohio on suspicion of soliciting prostitution

Jed York, the principal owner of the San Francisco 49ers football team, was arrested Sunday in Ohio for allegedly soliciting prostitution.

York allegedly attempted to pay $140 for sex in response to an online ad. He was apprehended while on the way to an East Palestine, Ohio, trailer park for the rendezvous, the New York Post reported.

York reportedly pleaded no contest to a charge of disorderly conduct and one count of possessing criminal tools. He initially faced charges of engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools, but the prostitution charge was reduced to disorderly conduct.  

Columbiana County prosecutor Vito Abruzzino said reducing the charges was "routine for someone facing those types of charges in our area and not having a history of this type of criminal conduct in his past," according to ESPN.

The 49ers said it was aware of York's situation but does not have a comment, while the NFL said the situation will be "reviewed under the personal conduct policy."

East Palestine, Ohio, was the site of a 2023 train derailment and chemical spill that attracted national attention, including a campaign visit from President Donald Trump.

It remains unclear what York was doing there.
