Shooting at LA music fest afterparty leaves two dead, 6 wounded
The incident occurred at about 1 p.m. in the city's industrial zone.
Eight people were shot in a shooting that erupted at an L.A. music festival after-party early Monday morning, with two dead and at least one other in critical condition.
A man died on the scene and a woman died in the hospital soon after, while the other six are in the hospital, according to local TV station KTLA5. The shooting took place near East 14th Place and Paloma Street close to the industrial zone, according to authorities.
Police had previously broken up a party at 11 p.m. Sunday after an individual was seen entering with a weapon. The individual was arrested for possession of a firearm, according to the Associated Press. Police returned around 1 a.m. in response to a radio report of gunfire at the scene.
KTLA5 reported that it is unknown whether the two gatherings were connected.
The party was advertised as an unofficial after-party for attendees of the Hard Summer music festival and took place in the 1200 block of Paloma, according to KTLA5.
It is not immediately clear whether the incident and the festival are connected.
So far, there is no information on the suspect, though the area was investigated by authorities for hours, according to the AP.
