Trump says DC provided false crime statistics, 'under serious investigation'
"Until 4 days ago, Washington, D.C., was the most unsafe 'city' in the United States, and perhaps the World," President Trump said
President Trump said Monday that Washington, D.C., has provided false crime statistics and that the city is "under serious investigation" for it.
"D.C. gave Fake Crime numbers in order to create a false illusion of safety. This is a very bad and dangerous thing to do, and they are under serious investigation for so doing!" Trump posted on Truth Social.
"Until 4 days ago, Washington, D.C., was the most unsafe 'city' in the United States, and perhaps the World. Now, in just a short period of time, it is perhaps the safest, and getting better every single hour! People are flocking to D.C. again, and soon, the beautification will begin!"
Trump deployed National Guard troops to D.C. on August 11 to assist local law enforcement in fighting crime. They are joined by federal officers from the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Agency. Attorney General Pam Bondi said Sunday that more than 300 arrests have been made since the federal effort began last week.
