West Virginia congressman says guardsman shot in DC ‘hanging on’, asks for prayers
A gunman opened fire on Wolfe and his fellow guard Sarah Beckstrom, who has since died from her injuries.
West Virginia GOP Congressman Riley Moore said on Saturday that National Guardsman Andrew Wolfe is “hanging on” and asks for prayers as he fights for his life.
"Andy is hanging on. And he is a fighter and his family has told me that time and time again, he is a fighter," Moore told Fox & Friends Weekend. "But above all what they want here is for everybody to continue to pray. I believe in the power of prayer and I can promise you his parents believe in the power of prayer... Please keep praying."
A gunman opened fire on Wolfe and his fellow guard Sarah Beckstrom, who has since died from her injuries, while they were on patrol in downtown Washington, D.C., just blocks from the White House.
The suspected shooter was identified as Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan national. Federal prosecutors charged the alleged shooter with one count of first-degree murder, which could result in the death penalty. He was also charged with two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.
