Academy-award winning musician Glen Hansard dead from a motorcycle accident at 56

Irish singer-songwriter Glen Hansard, star of the movie "Once," died in a motorcycle crash in Dublin. He was 56. 

Hansard won an Academy Award in 2008 for Best Original Song for "Falling Snow," which was featured in "Once." 

Hansard was killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on the outskirts of Dublin before 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday. First responders treated him at the scene, but he was pronounced dead shortly after, Fox News reported. 

Staring opposite Markéta Irglová in "Once," Hansard played a struggling street musician who discovers his connection with a fellow artist through music on the streets of Dublin. The film was a global success, earning approximately $23 million at the worldwide box office, Rolling Stone reported.
