Argentina defeats England in FIFA World Cup semi-finals, will face Spain on Sunday

England will now play France for the third place title on Saturday afternoon, followed by Argentina and Spain on Sunday.

Argentina defeated England 2-1 Wednesday afternoon in the second FIFA World Cup semi-final match and the country will now play Spain this weekend in the finals.

England will now play France for the third place title on Saturday afternoon, followed by Argentina and Spain on Sunday.

Argentina's narrow victory over England means Sunday's match will be the third time Argentine soccer star Lionel Messi has played in a World Cup final. Messi is in his sixth World Cup appearance overall.

Argentina has only won the World Cup with Messi once, when the team defeated France in 2022.
