Ashley Biden files for divorce from plastic surgeon husband Howard Krein after 13 years

Ashley Biden, daughter of former President Biden and first lady Jill Biden, has filed for divorce from her plastic surgeon husband, Dr. Howard Krein, after 13 years of marriage.

The 44-year-old filed Monday in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, according to People magazine. She married Krein, 58, in June 2012 at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Roman Catholic Church, in Greenville, Delaware, in a ceremony combining her Catholic traditions with Krein's Jewish ones.

Also on Monday, Biden posted on her Instagram story a since-deleted photo of herself walking through a park, giving a thumbs up with Beyoncé's song "Freedom" playing in the background.

She also reposted the quote, “New life, new beginnings means new boundaries. New ways of being that won’t look or sound like they did before," on Instagram, set to the tune of Lauryn Hill’s “Freedom Time.”

Biden and Krein were introduced to each other by Beau Biden, one of her two older half-brothers, and began dating in the summer of 2010. They got engaged in October 2011.

Biden introduced her father at the Democratic National Convention in August 2024. Her husband was in the Oval Office with the Biden family last year when the then-president delivered a speech on his decision to abandon his reelection bid.

Biden is also known for her diary being obtained by Project Veritas in 2020. The outlet eventually returned the diary to local law enforcement in Florida, along with the first daughter's other belongings that were taken from a place she had stayed at by Aimee Harris.
