Country music icon Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80.

The family announced Parton's death in an Instagram post. Bryan Seever Seaver, son of Cassie Parton, spoke on behalf of the family to confirm that his aunt had died. Seaver had served as Parton's head of security for years.

"This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago," he said. "I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven't truly felt it until now."

Parton's career spanned decades, with her first album debuting in 1967. Her most recent album, "Rockstar," was released in 2023, placed 3rd on the Billboard 200, and was certified gold.

Among her greatest hits were "Jolene," "9 to 5," "Here You Come Again," and "Two Doors Down."
