DC United cancels friendly soccer match with Ethiopian National Team, amid Ebola outbreak, visa woes
Cancelled D.C. United soccer match amidst Ebola outbreak
D.C. United has canceled a friendly match against the Ethiopian National Team because of the recent global Ebola outbreak and difficulties securing visas.
The game was scheduled for July 11 at Audi Field as the third annual Ethiopia soccer legacy match, according to D.C. United, which made the announcement Tuesday.
The World Health Organization said that the fight against the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo is "catching up with the spread of the virus."
However, there are more than 340 confirmed cases and the outbreak is spreading into Uganda, according to PBS Correspondent Chris Ocamringa.
Fans who purchased tickets from Ticketmaster or directly from the club will receive a refund within a week, the team said.
