Dick Cheney's funeral to be held at Washington National Cathedral next week

Former Vice President Dick Cheney's funeral is to be held at the Washington National Cathedral on Nov. 20.

“Vice President Cheney devoted decades of his life to public service at the highest levels of government,” the Dean of Washington National Cathedral, Very Rev. Randolph Marshall Hollerith, said in a statement, The Hill news outlet reported Thursday.

“His life was marked by deep dedication to his family and to the country he served,” he continued. 

The funeral service is set to take place on Nov. 20 at 11:30 a.m. ET.

Former President George W. Bush; Cheney’s daughter, former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.); his grandchildren; his physician, Dr. Jonathan Reiner; and Cheney’s former press secretary and legislative assistant, Pete Williams, who is also a former NBC News correspondent, will deliver tributes at the service.

Hollerith will give the homily.

Cheney died on Nov. 3 at age 84, due to complications from pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease.

The former vice president served in the Bush administration from 2001-2009.
