Paul Daniel "Ace" Frehley, known as the "Spaceman" in the rock band KISS, died on Thursday in New Jersey at the age of 74-years-old from injuries sustained in a fall last month, his family confirmed.
Frehley co-founded the rock band with members Paul Stanley, known as "Starchild," and Gene Simmons, known as the "Demon," in 1972. He left the band for a solo career a decade later in 1982.
“We are completely devastated and heartbroken," Frehley's family said in a statement reported by Variety. "In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth.
"We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others," they continued. "The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever.”
