The Florida Gators on Monday night defeated the Houston Cougars in a nail-biter in the NCAA March Madness championship, in a 65-63 victory. The game was played at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Florida had previously won the championship twice, back to back in 2006 and 2007, and Houston had never won, while twice having made it to the championship game in the 1980s.

Houston was led by LJ Cryer with 19 points. Florida was led by Will Howard with 18 points.
