Pope Leo reveals favorite movies ahead meeting with film celebrities
Cate Blanchett, Spike Lee, and Gaspar Noé will visit Pope Leo on Saturday
Pope Leo XIV revealed his favorite movies ahead of his meeting with film celebrities on Saturday at the Vatican.
The four movies that the pope named on Wednesday are “It’s a Wonderful Life” (1946), “The Sound of Music” (1965), “Ordinary People” (1980), and “Life Is Beautiful” (1997), CNN reported.
The naming of his favorite films comes as Pope Leo “has expressed his desire to deepen dialogue with the World of Cinema, and in particular with actors and directors, exploring the possibilities that artistic creativity offers to the mission of the Church and the promotion of human values,” according to a statement from the Vatican.
Some film celebrities said they will travel to Vatican City for an audience with the pope on Saturday, including Cate Blanchett, Spike Lee, and Gaspar Noé, the Vatican said.
