Former professional football star Tony Romo was arrested Thursday night in Milwaukee under suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI).

Romo, who is best known as the former quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, was reportedly stopped on a highway and performed poorly on field sobriety tests, according to Fox News. He has since been released but is due in court on Sept. 21.

The former football star, who now works for CBS on its NFL broadcast team, was back in Wisconsin for the Wisconsin State Amateur golf tournament. Romo was named all-state in three sports in high school for football, basketball and golf, according to the New York Post.

“I’m competitive in both [golf and football], I’m just better at football,” he told TMJ4 News on Thursday. “It’s the challenge of it. It’s as tough as you're gonna play.”

Romo, who retired from the NFL in 2017, is expected to be charged with his first OWI offense in Wisconsin, which is typically a civil offense that carries a fine that ranges from $150 to $300 and is not a criminal charge.
