Josef Newgarden, racing for Team Penske, won the Indianapolis 500 for the second year in a row on Sunday following a rain delay.

The 108th Indianapolis 500 race started shortly before 5 p.m. ET after being delayed for several hours due to severe storms in central Indiana. Spectators had been ordered to leave the vicinity of the speedway and seek shelter shortly after noon after lightning was detected in the area. An all-clear was given a few hours later, and equipment rushed to the scene to dry the track.
