You Vote: With the assassination of Charlie Kirk, what is his place in the conservative movement?
Kirk has been one of the most influential voices on the right in recent years, notably founding Turning Point USA chapters at universities across the country and hosting speakers' summits for young conservatives.
Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was shot on Wednesday at an event in Utah and has been confirmed dead at the age of 31.
Multiple sources confirmed his passing to Just the News. Kirk was speaking at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.
President Donald Trump also confirmed Kirk's death in a post on Truth Social.
"The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead," Trump wrote. "No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!"
Trump also ordered flags nationwide to be flown at half staff until Sunday evening in honor of Kirk.
Despite an initial statement from the school confirming that the suspect was in custody, the person initially arrested was apparently not the shooter, who remains at large, the school confirmed.
Video footage showed Kirk speaking under a tent to a large crowd outdoors before being blown out off his stool.
