Consumer prices increased 2.4% annually in January, less than expected

The cost of goods and services increased 2.4% in January, compared to the same time last year, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday.

The rate, in the federal government's Consumer Price Index, was slower than forecast and down from the 2.7% annualized rate in December, according to CNBC.
