Organizers for the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles have announced the schedule of events for the international competition.

The schedule was announced Monday – exactly three years from the start of the event – by the group LA28.

Opening ceremonies will be at 5 p.m West Coast Time on July 14, 2028, and will take place between at SoFi Stadium and the Los Angleses Coliseum.

“This dual-venue approach also reflects the competition schedule, which will see athletics take place in the first week of the Games and swimming in the second,” according to the Olympics website. “Both disciplines will be staged at the two respective venues, enabling efficient planning and enhanced operational use.”

While it has been customary to begin the games with swimming, instead, the first week of the competition will feature track and field. Swimming will begin the second week, starting July 22 at SoFi Stadium. An indoor pool will be constructed at this venue following the opening ceremony.

Flag football will also be making its Olympic premiere at these games. They are set to compete during the first week of the games at BMO Stadium.

The games will run through July 30. The Paralympic Games will follow from August 15 to August 27, 2028.

The 2028 games will also mark the Coliseum’s third time hosting the opening ceremony.
