A Cuban national in the country illegally, Robyn Argote Brooks, has been arrested after authorities said he rammed two ICE vehicles in San Antonio with his car.

He did so as vehicular attacks against ICE officers have increased by 3,200% in one year and targeted attacks against federal agents have exponentially increased nationwide.

“A criminal illegal alien rammed ICE vehicles in San Antonio, sending an agent to the hospital. Organized groups are obstructing immigration enforcement across the country, putting officers and law-abiding civilians at risk. These criminals must be arrested,” Gov. Greg Abbott said in a social media post commenting on the attack.

A video of the altercation was taken by ICE officers and broadcast by CBS News Austin that shows Brooks reversing into and driving into two ICE vehicles. The altercation occurred in the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter near Blanco Road and Wurzbach Parkway on the north side of San Antonio, CBS News reported.

The incident happened as ICE officers were conducting a targeted vehicle stop to arrest Brooks, the Department of Homeland Security said. Brooks “refused to comply with law enforcement commands to exit his vehicle. He then attempted to evade arrest by throwing his vehicle into reverse and backing up full speed, almost running over an ICE officer. Fortunately, he missed the officer and slammed into an ICE vehicle instead. The illegal alien then accelerated forward, slamming into a second ICE vehicle and injuring the officer in the front seat. ICE officers successfully arrested him.”

One ICE officer who was sitting in his vehicle as it was hit went to the hospital reporting neck injuries, ICE said.

Brooks was released into the U.S. through the Biden administration’ CBP One app in 2024, DHS said. The app facilitated the illegal entry of more than one million unvetted foreign nationals who under federal immigration law were deemed inadmissible. Brooks is now in ICE custody and is being processed for removal, authorities said.

On President Donald Trump’s first day in office, the CBP One app was terminated. The Trump administration has since repurposed it as CBP Home app, offering free flights and stipends to qualified foreign nationals to return home. In Trump’s first year in office, nearly two million people have chosen to self-deport using the app, The Center Square reported.

The alleged attack occurred as assaults against ICE officers are up 1,300%, vehicular attacks are up 3,200% and death threats are up 8,000% in one year, The Center Square reported. From Jan. 21, 2025 to Jan. 7, 2026, there were 66 vehicular attacks against ICE officers, compared to two during the same timeframe during the previous year, DHS said.

In the past week, a U.S. citizen was shot and killed during an alleged vehicular attack in Minneapolis. Two alleged Tren de Aragua members and Venezuelans were shot in Portland, Ore., by Border Patrol agents, and another Venezuelan was shot Wednesday night during an enforcement action in Minneapolis.
