(The Center Square ) – In time for the four year anniversary of Dobbs, over 80 pro-life organizations sent a letter to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche asking for Louisiana v. FDA to be settled and mail-order abortion ended, while one organization in particular called on elected officials to pass “ambitious” protections of the unborn in accordance with the Fourteenth Amendment.
President of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America Marjorie Dannenfelser told The Center Square that the letter her group and 82 other pro-life organizations sent to Blanche “calls on the Department of Justice to settle the Louisiana v. FDA lawsuit by agreeing to a court-ordered consent decree.”
“This would immediately remove dangerous abortion drugs from the mail while the FDA conducts a prompt and rigorous safety review,” Dannenfelser said.
Dannenfelser told to The Center Square that “under the current mail-order abortion drug system, America is now seeing more abortions than before the Dobbs decision four years ago.”
“This surge is driven by the abortion industry’s strategy of making dangerous abortion drugs available with just a click – no doctor visit required,” Dannenfelser said.
“In states with pro-life laws, approximately 15,000 babies are dying every month due to mail-order abortions,” Dannenfelser said.
Dannenfelser stressed that “survivors like plaintiff Rosalie Markezich deserve justice. As Markezich testified, ‘If mail-order abortion wasn’t a thing, I’m 100% sure I would have my child.’”
“Tragically, yet another woman was recently rushed to the ER after a man forced abortion drugs on her against her will, and her baby is now fighting for survival in the NICU,” Dannenfelser said.
“This is a national tragedy that demands to be treated with the urgency and seriousness it deserves,” Dannenfelser said.
In particular, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America called on elected officials Wednesday to “pass ambitious protections for unborn children grounded in the 14th Amendment,” as well as urged pro-life citizens to sign the “Declaration of Independence for the Unborn” all in time for the nation’s 250th anniversary.
When asked for comment on this, Dannenfelser said: “In our nation’s next chapter, we must address the greatest human rights violation of our time and fulfill the Declaration of Independence’s promise of the right to life for all Americans.”
Dannenefelser said that “15 states allow abortion at any point, including in the 7th, 8th, and 9th months of pregnancy.”
Dannenfelser said that the “states-only” strategy – or the idea that abortion issues should be decided by states only, not federally – is “not only unjust, it’s a massive failure.”
“No human rights issue in the history of the country has ever been solved this way,” Dannenfelser said.
“Going into the midterms and ahead of 2028, the pro-life movement must emphasize the expectation for the GOP to support national protections for life under the 14th amendment,” Dannenfelser said.
“One small way to do that is by signing the Declaration of Independence for the Unborn,” Dannenfelser said. “We must rally around bold, Lincolnian leaders who will put abortion on the path to extinction by pushing for national protections at the earliest point we can achieve consensus.”
When reached for comment, a Department of Justice spokesman told The Center Square: “This Department of Justice remains committed to advancing President Trump’s pro-life agenda, including through dismissing criminal prosecutions and civil lawsuits against peaceful pro-life advocates targeted by the previous administration, and using the FACE Act to protect pro-life pregnancy centers”
