Officials say at least four injured in explosion at Dallas apartment building

Dallas officials said Thursday that at least four people were injured in an explosion at a downtown apartment complex, which prompted a strong emergency response.

Dallas Fire-Rescue Assistant Fire Chief James Russ told reporters that crews responded to a call about a gas leak at the apartment complex shortly before the explosion. Nearly 100 firefighters responded to the scene after the explosion. 

DFR said at least four people were transported to different hospitals, but that it cannot confirm the number of victims at this time. No fatalities have been reported so far.

"We are still in the process of locating victims," DFR spokesperson Jason Evans told CBS News.

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson said he is monitoring the situation and vowed to help those affected by the incident.  

"My prayers are with those injured, their families, and all those who have suffered loss from this tragic event," Johnson said on X. "Our Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel responded swiftly and their efforts to fight the fire are ongoing."
