Florida Republican Attorney General James Uthmeier on Monday announced that a Texas man has been arrested for allegedly making death threats against Jewish conservative media members who live in Florida.

Uthmeier identified the suspect as Nicholas Ray of Spring, Texas, who he said will be extradited to Florida. Some of Ray's alleged targets include Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon and Fox News and New York Post columnist Karol Markowicz.

The state attorney general said his office was notified of multiple death threats against conservative Jewish media members in his state last week.

"After an investigation, we obtained an arrest warrant for Nicholas Ray of Spring, TX," Uthmeier wrote on X. "Ray is now in custody and will be extradited to Florida to face charges of extortion, written threats to kill, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device."

Florida GOP Rep. Randy Fine, who is Jewish, said he had been the victim of legitimate death threats at least twice in his career and was thankful that Uthmeier was speaking publicly about the issue and taking it seriously.

"One of my wishes was for our State Attorneys to speak more loudly that in Florida, if you make threats, you will end up in prison for a very long time," Fine posted on X. "I am glad to see that is exactly what is happening here."
