Twitter sued over San Francisco office rent

Twitter is being sued for allegedly failing to pay $136,250 in rent on its San Francisco office space. 

The landlord, Columbia Property Trust, said in the complaint filed Thursday in a state court in San Francisco state court that it demanded on Dec. 16 for Twitter to pay rent within five days or risk defaulting on its lease, Bloomberg reported. The social media giant Twitter did not comply with the request, the landlord said.

Twitter has apparently not paid rent on its California-based headquarters, nor any international office locations, in several weeks, The New York Times reported last month. 

Twitter did not respond to Bloomberg's request for comment.

The Times reported that Musk closed four floors at the San Francisco headquarters and consolidated workers onto two floors. The paper also found that the social media platform is being evicted from the Seattle office for not paying rent, according to two people with knowledge of the matter.
