Alexander Vindman has raised $8.2 million for a Florida Senate campaign against Sen. Ashley Moody, R-Fla., since announcing his bid in January, Politico reported.
Moody replaced Secretary of State Marco Rubio when President Donald Trump appointed him to his current post. She faces reelection in 2026.
Vindman, for his part, is known primarily for his role in the first impeachment of President Donald Trump in connection with a phone call he made to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump was acquitted in a Senate trial.
While Florida is regarded as a safe Republican seat, Vindman's war chest could help him to make the race more competitive. Campaign finance records show him with $6 million in available cash on hand as of the end of the quarter.
His brother, Eugene Vindman, won election to Congress in 2024 as a Virginia representative.
