California Democrats mock Trump over speculation Biden will try to take back his party's nomination
Trump posted a message to his social media platform Truth Social, implying that Biden could try to take the party back at the Democratic convention in Chicago later this month.
California's Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom and Rep. Adam Schiff on Tuesday took to social media to mock former President Donald Trump over his concern that President Joe Biden would try to reenter the presidential race.
Vice President Kamala Harris became the presumptive Democratic nominee for president after Biden dropped out and endorsed her last month. Harris announced Tuesday morning that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will be her running mate.
Trump posted a rant to his social media platform Truth Social, suggesting that Biden could try to take the party back at the Democratic convention in Chicago later this month.
“What are the chances that Crooked Joe Biden, the WORST President in the history of the U.S., whose Presidency was Unconstitutionally STOLEN from him by Kamabla, Barrack HUSSEIN Obama, Crazy Nancy Pelosi, Shifty Adam Schiff, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, and others on the Lunatic Left, CRASHES the Democrat National Convention and tries to take back the Nomination," Trump speculated.
"He feels that he made a historically tragic mistake by handing over the U.S. Presidency, a COUP, to the people in the World he most hates, and he wants it back, NOW!!!” The former president added.
Schiff, who is running to represent California in the Senate, commented on the post first, mocking Trump as being "scared" of Democrats beating him in the November election.
"It's okay to be scared," Schiff posted on the social media platform X, along with a picture of the rant.
A spokesperson for former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told The Hill that rant was just "the usual projection of his own insanity," and Newsom also posted a screenshot of the post on X with the comment "Oh, he's scared."
Some anti-Trump conservative groups also blasted Trump for the post, with the group "Republican Voters Against Trump" stating that message was "unhinged even for [Trump]."
Harris and Walz are expected to formally accept the party's nominations for president and vice president at the Democratic convention in Chicago from Aug. 19 through Aug. 22.
