Hundreds of demonstrations across the country are planned to protest President Donald Trump and his administration as Americans celebrate Independence Day.

The demonstrations, labeled the “Free America” protests, are being organized by the Women’s March to free the country from “the grip of hate and the politics of fear.” The events are varied and include everything from traditional street gathers, to block parties, and barbecues.

"The motivation behind this event is the growing frustration so many Americans have with the policies at the federal and state levels that infringe on our fundamental rights and take choice away from all of us and our communities,” Nichole Geibel, a 'Free America' protest organizer in Ohio, told Newsweek. We believe that freedom of speech, personal autonomy and accountability in government are always important and always need to be fought for.”

There are currently 264 “Free America” events planned across many states, both Republican and Democratic. Still, the planned number of events is dwarfed by the “No Kings” protests against the president last month. There is little indication so far that any of the demonstrations have gathered sizable crowds.
